Terma to Provide Advanced Air Defense Integration and NATO interoperability for Slovakia
Terma has been awarded a contract to supply its advanced command-and-control software, BMD-Flex, as part of Slovakia’s newly acquired Barak MX Integrated Air Defense System.

Lystrup, Denmark – 17 February, 2025 – Terma, a global leader in defense and aerospace solutions, has been awarded a contract to supply its advanced command-and-control software, BMD-Flex, as part of Slovakia’s newly acquired Barak MX Integrated Air Defense System. The contract includes the delivery of Terma’s software solutions and system integration, ensuring interoperability with NATO’s air defense architecture (NATINAMDS).
The agreement follows Slovakia’s landmark EUR 554 million defense deal for six batteries of the Barak MX system, a cutting-edge air defense solution designed to counter a variety of airborne threats, already been chosen by 8 countries across 4 continents, including nations in the NATO/EU zone. The system is developed by IAI and together with Terma’s C2 BMD-Flex it will represent a unified defense framework where sensors, battle management systems and interceptors are seamlessly integrated into a network-centric unified defense network.
Terma’s BMD-Flex C2 software, a program of record for the Danish Defense’s very short air defense (VSHORAD), will play a key role in the integration process. The solution enhances battle management efficiency, ensuring real-time coordination of air defense assets, and providing Slovakia with an adaptable, future-proof defense capability. As part of the agreement, Terma will oversee the integration process, working closely with partners to ensure the system’s full compatibility with NATO’s operational standards.
"We are proud to contribute to Slovakia’s enhanced air defense capabilities by delivering our battle-proven BMD-Flex C2 software and leading the integration efforts," said Thomas Flarup, EVP Global Sales and Portfolio Management, at Terma. "Ensuring interoperability with NATO is a core priority, and our solution will provide Slovakia with a highly effective, scalable, and future-ready air defense network."
The Barak MX system is operational in multiple countries worldwide, offering an operationally proven multi-layered air defense network capable of engaging fighter jets, UAVs, cruise missiles, and ballistic threats. With its proven capability and modular design, the system will significantly enhance Slovakia’s national security and its role within NATO’s collective defense framework.
