Terma and DTU in closer collaboration

On Monday, 8 August 2016, the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and Terma signed a strategic cooperation agreement that will contribute to innovation and increased competitive power and skills development.

Terma wishes to a higher extent to support the research environment at DTU and thereby obtain a higher visibility towards the students as a part of the recruitment of new employees. It is also the intention to expose to DTU the technologies and competences that Terma as a prominent global defense, aerospace, and security company prioritizes and aims at in the future.

“As a result of the agreement, we as a company can utilize relevant research studies and achievements more systematically and structured as part of our product development”, says Terma’s CEO Jens Maaløe. “Vice versa, the university obtains improved insight into our technological and theoretical challenges. Many Terma employees have both a professional and a personal interest in following relevant research at universities more closely,” says Jens Maaløe, who signed the agreement together with the president of DTU, Professor Anders Bjarklev.

DTU and Terma have identified five special focus areas that among others include internships at Lockheed Martin in Texas, USA, where Terma the last two years has contributed to the expatriation of Danish students. Other areas are concrete study projects at Terma, research collaboration at Ph.D.-level, and guest lectures and company visits.

To ensure progress in the collaboration, a steering group has been established and an action plan will be made on an annual basis with concrete activities and projects within each of the five focus areas.
