Inauguration of Terma's new facilities at Woensdrecht Air Base

Woensdrecht, the Netherlands - With participation of the Danish Ambassador Jens-Otto Horslund, Air Commodore Richard Laureijssen, and 40 invited guests, the new and expanded Terma facilities at Main Support Base Woensdrecht were inaugurated Friday, 3 November 2017.

Terma's support and test center for Electronic Warfare technology has been doubled in size with well-equipped workplaces for the test and repair of Terma’s Electronic Warfare ALQ-213 equipment, which is used across most aircraft platforms within the Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF).

In his speech at the inauguration, Steen M. Lynenskjold, Terma Executive Vice President & Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), emphasized the importance of Terma being close to and also able to support not only RNLAF but also other European EW customers from a central geographical location and with the latest technology.

“Terma's continued commitment to being strongly represented at Main Support Base Woensdrecht must also be seen in the light of the fact that this base will play an important role in the support of the European F-35 fleet. To be close to companies and suppliers that have established themselves at the base is of eminent importance”, Lynenskjold stated and continued:

“Our Dutch footprint is a strategic important asset in the arena of F-35 sustainment for the European F-35 fleet.”

Terma EW Support Centre was established in Woensdrecht in 2010 and has been testing ALQ-213 units as of then. The facilities operated in line with company standards and also operated generic EW Test Station equipment.

In 2016, the Terma Woensdrecht capabilities were expanded and a qualification program was implemented in order for staff to be certified to conduct repairs according to company standard documentation. In concert, the package of EW products that can be serviced at the Center was expanded to include the Electronic Warfare Controller Unit (EWCU), the Tactical Data Unit (TDU), the Advanced Threat Display (ATD), and Programmable Interference Blanker Unit (PIBU).

Together with Steen M. Lynenskjold; Senior Vice President, Support & Services Lars Hedemann Hilligsøe; Shop Manager, Electronic Warfare Competence Center, Woensdrecht, Jan van Besouw; and Senior Vice President, Market Development Jørn Henrik Levy Rasmussen hosted the successful and well attended event.

As a member of the Netherlands Industries for Defense and Securities, Terma attends the NIDV Symposium & Exhibition in Rotterdam on November 30, 2017.
