Terma North America appoints Chris Sheppard as VP, BD, Airborne Systems

Chris Sheppard has taken up the post as Vice President, Business Development, Airborne Systems in Terma North America Inc.

Denmark and Washington D.C. – Denmark-based Defense and Security Group Terma A/S appointed Chris Sheppard new Vice President, Business Development, Airborne Systems, Terma North America.

Terma’s Airborne Systems Business Area has a large and growing activity in the United States in the sales of airborne solutions to U.S. customers and U.S. export to the global market. Terma Airborne Systems’ focus is on electronic warfare self-protection systems for fixed and rotary wing aircraft, applied aero-structures, as well as audio solutions for improved situational awareness.

Chris Sheppard joins Terma with more than 20 years of proven experience in domestic and international business development, strategy, and program management. Most recently, Sheppard represented Northrop Grumman Mission Systems in Washington D.C. where he led customer and government relations initiatives for the Mission Systems Sector and cross-sector initiatives involving domestic and international Air Force programs. Included in this responsibility was direction and engagement with key prime manufacturers and suppliers, Department of Defense requirements and acquisitions agencies, congressional lobbying initiatives, and leadership in foreign military sales and technology release initiatives.

Previously, Sheppard held the position of Program Manager/Program Development with Northrop Grumman Electronic System’s Global Sensor Solutions. There he led both domestic and international airborne fire control radar markets as well as many initiatives in the Advanced Programs and Technology division.

In 2006, Sheppard transitioned from the U.S. Air Force as an F-16 flight examiner, instructor, mission commander, and program manager and continues to serve as deputy operations group commander as a colonel in the District of Columbia Air National Guard. He is a command pilot with nearly 3,000 hours of flight time in all variants of the F-16 and has participated in numerous overseas combat operations and the aerospace control alert mission in support of U.S. air sovereignty.

Sheppard earned a master’s degree in international business from Thunderbird Global School of Management and a bachelor’s degree in business management from the U.S. Air Force Academy. He also completed Air Command & Staff College, Air War College, and executive education at University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business, University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business, Johns Hopkins’ School of Advanced International Studies, and the United Kingdom Advanced Command and Staff College.
